Phil Harman Cup

Summary

Saturday, September 10:

Light air start out of the northwest. Set course in E. Penobscot Bay. Wind filled in from the southeast and picked up throughout the day topping out around 12 kts. Completed 5 races averaging 32 minutes a race. Minor breakdowns, no protests heard.

Sunday, September 11:

A front was scheduled to hit at 1230. Mandatory reef required which was great as a number of schools learned how to properly set a reef. We set up inside the harbor in the middle of the channel - it was difficult to get a longer course in and not have the T/S State of Maine greatly affect the racing. Set the windward mark in protected waters to encourage sailors to set. 80% of the fleet set their spinnakers. Wind continued to pick up. We were not able to get the second race of the day off due to miscommunication from the RC in regards to OCS boats, as well as marks slipping significantly to leeward when the breeze picked up. We had to ultimately abandon due to lightning near by as the front rolled in.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
