Gardiner Island Invite

Summary

Saturday, October 4:

18 boats (9 teams) were on the water today at the Gardner Island Invite. There was some confusion early in the day regarding the schools that were expected to sail, but these were clarified and sailors still left the dock by 10:15. There was a tricky easterly coming off the land, between 8-13kts, making for some great sailing- the rain even held off until the last two races. 10 races were completed with no protests by 3:30. Thanks to all the students who helped coordinate the event, including bringing a J24 out as a lunch/bathroom station including Sarah, Matt, Will, Josh and Alex.

Sunday, October 5:

Today was brisk and sunny. We had an efficient day that started with everyone off the dock by 10:00 and everyone off the water by 1:30. The wind steadily increased as it shifted from a westerly to a strong southerly. Only six races were run and they all went off smoothly. One school was unable to make it today so there were only 16 boats on the water.

Thank you to Matt Sola for doing a great job organizing the day, as well as Lucy Jones, Austin Glazier, and Benton Croop for helping out.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
