Bio

Calhoun is in his fifth year as a member of the Salve Regina athletics staff. After coming to the Seahawks as part-time strength and conditioning coach, Calhoun has taken on the role of fitness center coordinator and assistant strength and conditioning coach.

A 2007 graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a degree in kinesiology, Calhoun has a background in corporate fitness and strength and conditioning. He worked with the Naval Academy Prep School (NAPS) football in the spring of 2007. 

Calhoun worked with an athletic testing company after NAPS called Athletic Standard for a year while working at the Salve Regina fitness center. 

Calhoun graduated from Salve Regina in the spring of 2013 with his masters in business administration. 

Calhoun is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).  He is also a certified personal trainer (CPT) through the NSCA.  Calhoun is a certified healthcare provider through the American Heart Association (CPR, AED, and First Aid). 

As the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, he is responsible for strength and conditioning programs for the Seahawks football, men/women’s soccer, women’s basketball, men’s ice hockey, field hockey, volleyball, and women’s lacrosse teams. Calhoun coordinates an internship program for those interested in the field of strength and conditioning while also managing the work-study students that work in the Fitness Center.
