Seahawks land 45 on Fall Academic All-CCC
NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University has landed 45 student-athletes on the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) 2013 Fall Academic All-Conference Team, announced Friday, January 24, by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.
The Seahawk total is three more than it produced last year and third-most in the conference, behind only University of New England (50) and Endicott (54).
The Academic All-Conference Team consists of any starter or significant reserve who has attained at least sophomore status and has maintained an overall minimum GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00. This is the second time the honor has been separated into two seasons - fall and spring. In total, 365 student-athletes representing all 10 member institutions were selected for the Fall Academic All-Conference Team.
Of the honorees, 69 were either first team, second team, or honorable mention All-CCC selections in their sport this past fall.
"All of these players should be applauded for their success in the classroom," said field hockey and women's lacrosse head coach Jennifer Foster. "Each of them has made a positive impact on our program and sets the perfect example for what it means to be a student-athlete."
