SeahawkTalk™ Reboot - kickoff end of August

NEWPORT, R.I. (August 29, 2020) -- Salve Regina University today announces the reboot of SeahawkTalk™ (Season Two) - a video-based talk show on SalveAthletics channel on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter (via Periscope) - on Monday, August 31, 2020 (3-4 p.m. ET). The program will air live on multiple platforms for an hour a day, Monday through Friday, with 90 episodes completed by Friday, January 1, 2021. Last spring during the initial shutdown from COVID, SeahawkTalk™ debuted to one destination (YouTube) for a nine-week run. "This semester, again with no live sports competition, we will go live to three destinations and interact with our guests and viewers by sharing their comments on-screen during an 18-week run," says host and executive producer Ed Habershaw, also the school's associate director of athletics.

"As was the case last semester, we will stream live from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Instead of four 15-minute segments each episode, we will have six 10-minute pieces."

"Our first and last 10 minutes each episode will be themed features, intros, news, previews, wrap-ups, leftovers, specials, etc. And from 3:10 to 3:50, we'll have regular 'guests' join us in the virtual studio in StreamYard.com for conversation. Jody Mooradian, our director of athletics, leads off each week with her 3:10 spot on Mondays; our 18 head coaches have the other regular spots with one lone segment (3:10 p.m. on Tuesdays) rotating among a variety of contributors."

"Our fitness center manager, Tom Blaney, will take that spot the first Tuesday of each month (Sept. 1, Oct. 6, Nov. 3, and Dec. 1), and our conference commissioner, Gregg Kaye, has the second Tuesday of each month (Sept. 8, Oct. 13, Nov. 10, Dec. 8). Our athletic trainers, admissions counselors, faculty, student affairs personnel, graduate studies, alumni office, and others will be invited for the remaining Tuesday openings. I will be host most of the time, followed by Andrew Pezzelli several other times, and the occasional hosting appearance by our senior interns Michael DeFusco '21 and Joey Morelli '21) for conversation about each guest's area of expertise. If a guest would like to host up to eight others during his/her segment, we can make room by just having a 'backstage' producer off-screen."

"Our guest experience will also be enhanced with StreamYard," adds Habershaw (link for guest instructions - https://streamyard.com/resources/docs/guest-instructions). "Guests have the ability to share their screen with any content from an application (HUDL or other video tool), or a specific Chrome tab (even placing an MP4 file with audio)."

"For coaches and student athletes, there may be times we go live from their practice setting for their 10-minute segment, or the entire episode; if conditions permit, we may also equip an individual with our wireless mic to record his/her audio during practice."

"What a wonderful platform with StreamYard," says Mooradian, in her sixth year as the school's AD and her second as a member of the NCAA Division III Committee on Infractions. "I enjoy conversing with Ed, and then he's able to seamlessly bring in other guests on the same stream as they are waiting 'backstage' during the program."

Season Two of SeahawkTalk™ will NOT live stream on the following dates:

• Columbus Day (Mon., Oct 12)
• Election Day (Tue., Nov 3)
• Veterans' Day (Wed., Nov 11)
• Thanksgiving Day (Thu., Nov 26)
• Christmas Eve (Thu., Dec 24)
• Christmas Day (Fri., Dec 25)

"We are still planning for broadcasts on both New Year's Eve (Thu., Dec 31) and New Year's Day (Fri., Jan 1), and praying that live competition returns for Seahawks as soon as the calendar turns to 2021," says Habershaw, with the first tentatively (not cancelled or postponed) scheduled contest on January 2 for women's basketball at Wheaton College.
